- R&M Packster 70 2023
I'm sorry to post in English (only been in the country a few months so haven't learned much German yet).
I had my R&M Packster 70 have it's first (500km service) on Thursday. This morning, I was crossing the road and an old lady moved suddenly in a different direction on the crossing and I had to do a hard emergency stop. I heard a 'pop' noise and lost all pressure from the right hand brake lever.
I checked and there was a total loss of hydraulic oil from the brake caliper. I could see it dripping over the handlebar and on to the rain cover. The old lady had no idea what happened, no one was hurt. But this could have had a very different outcome.
I am guessing that the oil seal is blown on the brake reservoir. My question to the forum is if this could have been a fault created by bad servicing two days ago? Is it possible to overfill the reservoir? Is it possible for the seal/gasket to be incorrectly fitted? I have never had a failure like this in the past but the proximity of the service seems more than a coincidence. I think the dealer for the "premium brand", who I pay premium prices to, should really take full responsibility for fixing this issue. But I'd like some reassurance that the root cause of the failure will be understood, so that it does not happen again.
Any insights forum members could give me would be very appreciated. Vielen dank.
