Hi everyone,
Apologies in advance if any of my questions below were already addressed, I don't speak a single word of German so I haven't read the thread tbh.
I own a Packster 70 since August 24th. I drove 550km with it. I drive cargo bikes since 2019 but my Packster70 is my first "electric" experience.
Now I'm quite addicted to my Packster70 and am not interested at all in returning it to R&M, despite their offer (100% refund + 15% ticket or whatever). I don't wanna wait several months before getting a new cargo (which represents 100% of my day-to-day mobility). In addition, I live in a small city in Western France where it's very difficult to get a cargo.
From where I am, I have a good opinion of Riese & Müller but I think they might be too focused on security. I'm concerned as well, but not as much as they are. I'm not surprised that whenever an issue arises, they run into panic and withdraw all P70s around the globe. But that's not enough to convince me that I shouldn't drive it anymore.
I tried to reach out to Riese & Müller but couldn't get them on the phone yet.
All in all, I would like to keep my Packster70 but before doing so I'd need some answers to 4 questions. Maybe you guys can help?
1. If the steering cable breaks while I'm driving, I assume that I'll still be able to brake... which significantly reduces the likelihood of having an accident. Confirmed?
2. If the steering cable breaks, would it be repairable? And if so, would it be something doable by a normal cycle repairer? Or will it have to come back to Riese?
3. What happens if I don't return my Packster? Do I lose the guarantee? Can Riese & Müller refuse to provide spare parts and/or repair if any problem arises (with the steering cable or something else)?
4. Last but not least: has anyone any idea of the likelihood of having an accident due to this issue? That's probably the most difficult question and even Riese is likely not to have an answer. But any thought is welcome.
Thank you guys in advance for your feedback
Tim
