hallo,

Was meint ihr dazu?

S.

That's all!

So, genuch geschlaumeiert.
Guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr!

Hi all!

I'm Giulio, one of the founder of ReCycle cargo.
First of all, thanks a lot for your interest!
I have tried a bit to understand your discussion (good old Google Translate :D), and I think I have captured the main doubts..

I'll try to give you some answers, unfortunately in English since I'm not that good with Deutsch:

1. The material of the tubes is ST37-3, hydraulic steel. With this material we can use a CNC bending machine, which enable us to avoid a lot of welds and preserve the strength of the tube. By using a thick wall (1.5mm), we were able to obtain a quite robust frame. This choice came after 3 years of use with lots of heavy loads of our test frame (the green one), which was made with 1.2 mm walls. We realized that it was a bit too "soft" and we therefore moved to 1.5 mm. At the moment our frame is undergoing test with daily usage from our local messenger company (Italian Bike Messenger - Modena), and the feedbacks are really positive so far. Their major positive comment (over a PedalPower bike which they already had) is that our bike is much more comfortable and absorbs shocks better. This is especially a plus on italian destroyed roads, and on cobblestones :D

2. Consider also that the normal bike tubes have variable cross section, being more thin in the middle and thicker close to the welds. We instead use the same thickness all along the tubes, which provides more stiffness.

3. We are able to ship with a special price to Germany, and also we are at the moment looking for a reseller. If you are interested in a test, please come back to us! We would really like if you can test our bike and give us some feedbacks!

Please if you have more questions don't hesitate to ask!

Giulio

Hi Giulio,

thank you for chiming in and good luck for your business!

No worries about the tubing. Something like that, perhaps ST50, would have been my choice, too. But why do arrange all the three tubes in the same plane? If you would lower the middle one, you would achieve way more stiffness.
Any comments about the welding?

We decided to keep the three tubes in the same plane because our first model is rather a short one (loading flat surface roughly 500 mm).
Now we have just finished designing the XL version (loading 700mm) and that one will have the center tube on a lower plane, that as you said gives more strength.

For the welding we use a TIG machine with stainless steel fillers. That offer a really good weld but since it is quite slow, we are planning to move towards a MIG machine.

Hello Giulio,
i like your bike.
How much does the bike weigh?

The whole bike mounted with 3x9 Deore and hydraulic disc brakes is around 23 kg. We have purchased also 2x11 SLX but we did not have the time to test it yet, with that one the weight should decrease a bit.

Hi Gulio

XL-Version sounds very interesting (y) Steel-Frame (y)
How wide can the tyres be? I would prefer more room for wider tyres....

Thanks! I will keep you posted as soon as we produce the first prototype!

Hi guys!!

The XL drawings are now ready (you can check them at our website). The first tubes should arrive in two weeks time.
Regarding the tires, we can mount a maximum of 2.35.

Last news: we decided to produce a batch of diy frame-kit so that anyone that is good at welding can build his own frame just by modifying an old MTB.
Its a bit of an experiment..so we would like some feedbacks. Is it something that you would like?

Thankskeveryone!
